Cloth or Disposable Diapers?
This is a hot topic these days! It seems most people have very strong opinions about the subject and are unwilling to waver. When considering what is best for your children, your pocketbook, the environment, what fits your busy schedule? Remember you always have options. It is a closer call than you might think at first blush.
Here are a few issues to consider before making an informed decision:
Cost: Cloth diapers will save you a lot of money over the long haul and they create less trash than disposables. Cloth diapers are not that much different or more difficult to deal with than disposables, but it helps to be able to toss them right into the washing machine.
Convenience: Given the choice of either a trash can or a washing machine, I kind of think the only time to worry about this is when you don’t have a laundry room. I prefer cloth personally but when I go on trips to friends or relatives, it’s better to go with the disposables.
Conscience: Be pragmatic and give yourself a break. If you have time and are so inclined then cloth diapers are a no-brainer! However, you can’t be expected to be perfect. I recommend keeping disposables on hand and taking them on trips, but at home go with cloth diapers.
